Lakshadweep is the smallest Union Territory of India and its just a coral island chain. The total area of this island is just 32 sq.km and the lagoons or water bodies are enclosed by atolls which covers an area of 4200 sq.km. The Lakshadweep territorial water extend to 20,000 Sq.Kms and 4,00,000 Sq.Km of exclusive economic zone (EEZ).Out of 36 island only these 10 Islands are inhabited - Agatti, Amini, Andrott, Bitra, Chetlat, Kadamat, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, Kiltan and Minicoy. The tourist focal Islands are Kavaratti, Minicoy, Kadamat, Bangaram, Agatti, Thinnakara, Kalpeni and Kavaratti. Kavaratti is the headquarters of this union territory. All of this Islands are restricted area and permits from the administration is required to visit any of these islands. Lakshadweep sports council taken care of the permit formalities, any tour operator or travel agents has to get the permit cleared in the name of guests or travelers before they start the journey to Lakshadweep. Apart from the permit if someone has a plan to stay at Agatti Home stay they need to get the Police Clarence from the hometown where the guest are based out of.
How to Reach Lakshadweep
Being the nearest gateway, all travellers can take their flight from Kochi or someone travelling by cruise they can board from Kochi, Willingdon Island. We have almost 6 passenger cruise to Lakshadweep from Kochi, MV Kavaratti, MV Arabian Sea, MV Lakshadweep, MV Amindivi, and MV Minicoy. Depending on the islands chosen for the tour the cruise time will take from 14 to 18 hours. We have different types of classes for the accommodation on the cruise that are basically differentiated on the facilities we gets like, A/C First Class with two berth cabins, A/C Second Class with four berth cabins and push back/Bunk Class with A/C seating. Flights land at Agatti and from agatti travelers can move to Bangaram, Kadamat or Thinnakara based on the tours selected at difernet island, these transfers are done by Motor Boats and Speed Boats.
